Xtrac, Inc. invites SAE Indiana, students and racing enthusiasts to learn more about Indycar!
Motorsport transmission specialist Xtrac Inc. unveiled its 100th IndyCar gearbox at the PRI Show in Indianapolis last December. This special P1011 transmission system will be formally presented to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway May, 26th, 2016 in honor of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. This gearbox represents the 100th P1011 gearbox that has been built for the series, and features a unique cutaway view. Xtrac’s P1011 gearbox has been in use by IndyCar since 2012 and is used by every team that competes in the Verizon IndyCar series. Xtrac has been a supplier partner to the Verizon IndyCar series since 2000.
Xtrac supplied its first IndyCar gearbox components in 1989, winning its first Indy 500 with team Penske in 1991. Considered to be the global leader in motorsport transmissions, Xtrac designs and manufactures transmissions used in all levels of professional motor racing including F1, WEC, NASCAR, IMSA, WRC, Indycar and more.
